For more than 50 years, Sant Giani Naranjan Singh Ji did katha of Gurpartap Suraj Parkash Granth at
Gurdwara
Dukh Nivaran Sahib, Patiala.
This Gurpartap Suraj Parkash Granth was written by Churamani Bhai Sahib Santokh Singh Ji in the early 18
century. It details the lives of Sri Guru Nanak
Dev Sahib Ji to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji. It took Bhai Sahib Ji
22 years to write it. Upon completion, Bhai Sahib Ji presented all his writings to the Khalsa Panth at
Sri Akal Takth Sahib. Katha of
this Granth has since been done at almost all major historical Gurdwaras in India.
Sant Giani Naranjan Singh Ji was a strong proponent of studying and learning from Sikh History.
Unfortunately a full recording of this
katha by Sant Ji is not available - except for some clips which are available at the
katha page
of this
website.
The katha below is from recordings of Gurpartap Suraj Parkash Granth done recently at Gurdwara Dukh
Nivaran Sahib, Patiala - the same place
where Sant Giani Naranjan Singh Ji had done katha for more than 50 years.

The above tracks mark the conclusion of katha on Sikh history as recorded by
Mahakavi Santokh Singh Ji Churamani in the Sri Gurpartap Suraj Parkash Granth.
As per long-standing Panthik tradition,
the conclusion of Suraj Parkash katha is followed by
the katha of the Pracheen Panth Parkash Granth,
as observed at the Takhts and many other historical Gurdwaras.
Where the Sri Gurpartap Suraj Parkash Granth chronicles in great detail
the lives and spiritual teachings of the Sikh Gurus
from Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji,
the Pracheen Panth Parkash Granth,
written by Bhai Ratan Singh Ji Bhangu,
carries the account forward,
detailing the history of the Khalsa Panth from the time
Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji left His physical form
through to the rise of the Sikh Misls in 18th-century Punjab.
After listening to the Suraj Parkash katha,
you may proceed to to the next chapter of Sikh History at
Katha of Sri Panth Parkash,
as narrated by Singh Sahib Giani Pritpal Singh Ji.
